OUR STORY
The Prosper Engineering Team’s origin story began in 2010 as an engineering club at Prosper High School. The club participated in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and the Solar Car Challenge, winning numerous awards over the years. As Prosper, Texas grew, so did the need for more schools. In 2019, Rock Hill High School opened to meet the growing demand and merged engineering efforts with Prosper High School. As a joint effort between the two schools, the engineering club evolved into an engineering team, complete with a team leadership structure that participates in the Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) program. In 2023, Walnut Grove High School was constructed and the team moved to the new location that had the space to support the now 150-person team to include a new All-Girls FRC team and new Drone team in Bell’s Advanced Vertical Robotics Competition.
In a structured environment with the help of adult mentors, students are fully immersed in engineering with other dedicated, like-minded students to explore the different disciplines of engineering and to acquire valuable hands-on skills. Team members also gain experience in corporate tasks, such as team building, project management, leadership, and fundraising. Students start out by building fundamental skillsets and eventually transition to a team leadership position to perpetuate team growth.
MISSION
The mission of the Prosper Engineering Team is to inspire students to grow, learn and apply the principles of engineering, math, science and technology through hands-on experience.
